Vintage Gingham Shorts
In about two weeks we are going on vacation and yesterday I realized I barely have shorts. Now that I think again: I don't own any shorts. Skirts yes, dresses yes, but shorts..., no. And on vacation, visiting attractions like castles, cathedrals, mediaval little towns and such, it's so much more comfortable to wear shorts than pencil skirts or swing dresses, I think. So I searched for a pattern in the pattern books I already had and looked in my fabrics for a nice gingham and to my luck I found a red and white, that was just enough for the pattern I wanted to make. And here it is:
Many more of this shorts will be made in the nearby future, I think!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Johanna! I'm working on the next one myself, too!
DeleteHmm, I remember my oldest daughter being turned away from entering St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome because she was wearing a "skort" that hit her mid-thigh. The officials at the door said this was a 'functioning' cathedral and she wasn't dressed properly to 'attend' a church.
ReplyDeleteWe all left (9 in the family) and went to another museum, returning to St. Peter's another day when we were all wearing long trousers.
Have fun on your vacation!
Thanks for the tip! Normally I'm not a regular visitor of cathedrals, so I wouldn't have thought of wearing long trousers to a cathedral, haha!
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog and have a nice weekend!
Liz
I'd be horrifically uncomfortable myself wearing shorts in public where everyone can see everything myself. I remember shorts always riding up when you don't want them to, and you don't dare sit on hot vinyl! A long, swingy skirt sounds far more comfortable, but whatever works!
ReplyDeleteMost of the skirts I have are pencils, so I think I still prefer the shorts, haha!
DeleteHave a nice weekend!

Cute! I really need to find a good shorts pattern. I too am uncomfortable with the lengths I find in styles I like.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like, I'd love if you shared these at my Show & Tell party this week. http://www.gingerlymade.com/2013/07/show-tell-35.html
