Howling at the Moon

One of the great things of vacation, is that I have a bit more time to crochet. I used it to make something for myself: another mochila.  A while ago I found a cross stitch pattern for a cow skull and I wanted to use it ever since. I had to adapt the pattern to the size of the bag, because if I would use this pattern the bag would be a meter in height, but it worked out as I had in mind. www.betweennapsontheporch.net For the bottom I used a star pattern that I found here on Pinterest. ~*~ The bracelet my daughter made for her teacher is featured again! Vacation is still going on. We are hiring a little house on the other side of the country and while playing tourist we have visited a lot of attractions. One of them was a butterfly garden, that we actually visited last year already, but found so beautiful that we wanted to see it again.  Here are some pictures: Showing us all fases from caterpillar to butterflies, we also had to watch those beauties: Unbelievable they can change into this: Or this one. It's a moth (a comet moth from Madagascar), but isn't this the most beautiful butterfly you have ever seen?  After walking through five butterfly gardens we were led to the passiflora gardens.   But as you may understand the moth was by far the most beautiful thing I saw in the butterfly gardens. Such an extraordinary creature. Wow.

Chouchou Blouse by Lena Hoschek

In a couple of weeks my oldest daughter will turn 9 years old. After I made a Faux Wayuu Mochila a couple of weeks ago, she wanted one, too. She is totally into cats for a while now, so I'm busy making a mochila with a cat pattern. It's almost finished, I just have to make a draw string and tassels, but fortunately the key chain is done, so I can show something.   www.betweennapsontheporch.net And yes, it's the bag you see in the background! We're on vacation in our own country, at De Hoge Veluwe to be specific, and have done a lot of activities and sightseeing, but due to heavy rainfall this morning we had something to find that would keep us dry. So we went to a zoo, which is always a good choice in my opinion, not too far away from the place we rent a little vacation house.  We saw some not so handsome water creatures And some animals who love to stay near the water Lazy cats And a lot of other great mammals And this hilarious mandril!

Just a simple and fast little project: ankle bracelets! www.betweennapsontheporch.net A while ago we had King's Day in The Netherlands and my little daughters made earrings and bracelets to sell. A friend suggested to make ankle bracelets, too, for summer, so my daughters each made one, but thought it to much trouble and now we have a lot of little pendants and shells left. I used some to crochet ankle bracelets for myself. Just in time for summer! Ribbon Skirt Marche by Lena Hoschek

This week was the last week before summer vacation starts and traditionally the birthdays of the kindergarten school teachers are celebrated in this week (even when their birthdays are in january or something). It's actually a Teacher's Appreciation Day in disguise. This is the last year we can celebrate, because my youngest will start at elementary school after summer vacation. Beside the presents the kids give all together, my daughter wanted to make a bracelet by herself for her teacher. And it had to be blue, because that's her teacher's favorite color, thus... I had to make a heart, to embellish the little packet, and a card.
