Howling at the Moon

Just two more things I made for my daughter's birthday...  This week she had her party for some invited class mates and friends. She really wanted to have a rabbit cake, but I just hadn't the time to bake one myself, so I bought a plain cake in a patisserie and embellished it with a little rabbit I made from fondant. I'm glad to say she liked it just as much.        I also made a pinata, also with the rabbit theme, of course. And how much I like (dare I say love?) our new furry friend, I'm glad I can turn over to another subject.   www.betweennapsontheporch.net

Beside the over all improvement as a result from the renovation of our house, there's another great thing: I will get my own place to craft (instead of sitting in the living room or in the kitchen, where my husband throws his coat over the chair and flatten my projects and where my kids grab my craft tools to never be found no more). With my own walls to hang stuff from! And I never thought I would say this about a rabbit, but what a great animal is Little Hare! I always thought rabbits were just sitting in their cage, eating and pooping, but no, nothing of that. Not with Little Hare, at least. He's smart, he likes to give little kisses, he wants to play and he does a lot of non verbal communication (like running and jumping up in the air as he is happy). The short version: Little Hare is top!! ...

Oriental Flower Bag by Banned

For NYE I punched lots of cans and put in tea lights for some ambience around the garden. But now that we are a week or three into the new year, they're still there, just because I like the look of them from the kitchen window. When it's not raining and the wind isn't blowing, I light the candles in the cans when it's dark. Only thing that would made it look even more beautiful, is some snow. I hate snow, actually, but for half a day, so I can make nice pictures, I can handle it. The thing my daughter really, really, really wants for her birthday is a little rabbit and as y ou could read in the before post, we said yes. But Little Hare, as she has named it (just love that!), has to stay with its mother for one more week until he's old enough to leave the nest. For the time being, so she can get a little rabbit for her birthday nevertheless, I made this necklace for her to wear. Aida Dress Black by Daisy Dapper

As mentioned before in the past weeks, my daughter's fifth birthday is coming up, but I'm getting out of inspiration when it comes to treats. Just in time I found this Bunny Treats, as there are just a couple of days left to make them.   My daughter (almost 5) is asking for a little rabbit for ages, but because we have two cats that both are quite fond of a little game, we have hesitated for months.  At NYE we had a party with some friends and when the time was there, we let up a wish balloon. My little one came up to me and said 'Mommy, you know what I wished for? I wished I'll get a real little rabbit for my birthday. And I will call him Little Hare.' Be honest, who can say no to such?! So the rabbit will come! It won't be little, though, because it has to be able to scare the cats off, so we choose to get a Flemish Giant. To decorate for my daughter's fifth birthday I made a Pom Pom Garland and Paper Star Garlands. With  a chalkboard pencil I drew banners and I also used fabric banners I made a couple of years ago, when she turned 1 (which seems about just one year ago, actually).  And of course there are balloons!  In the kitchen we have a black board on the kitchen door, that I use a lot more than my kids do. Moyna Butterfly Jewelry Roll

In just two weeks my daughter has her fifth birthday! Because of all the christmas and NYE fuss, there never is much time to make proper birthday decorations for my youngest, so it always comes to the last moments.  I found this idea for printed banners when I was searching for christmas inspiration. Doesn't take much time. Just choose the text and font you want, print, punch holes and hang. I sort of discovered the Embroidery Hoop. For X-mas I made a couple, but I like the decorativeness of them, so I made another one without the X-mas theme.
