Look what I got from my husband (I didn’t expect a present at all, because my husband, Dutchman that he is, doesn’t care for holidays at all and especially not for ‘commercial holidays’, as he finds Valentine’s Day is):



It’s an adorable book about friendship and love between different animals, with a lot of pictures. One of the friendships is between a (very big) rat and a cat; that one I like the most. Another one I like is the friendship between a Siberian Husky and a polar bear. The most touching picture in the book is one of a macaque who’s carrying a cat in his paws, as carefully as any mother would carry her baby. So sweet! This book is really perfect as a gift for Valentine’s Day.

I found this 'woven heart' at the Paper Matrix, but found it quite difficult to make. My heart didn't exactly end up the same as the one I found at the Paper Matrix, but I like it anyway.

    What a beautiful share. I love your hearts. Your woven one from this year is so pretty. I love that you used the red and blue, as it is so pretty. Did your Dutchman love it? It was straight from your heart. I like it that you take such love and time and put them into each gift. That makes it special.

    Your palmer heart clay is beautiful. I wish you would do a tutorial on that. I would love to know how to do that one. It took my breath away.

    I also loved the time that you had to put into that cut out one. WOW.

    Loved your book that you received from your DH. How sweet that he picked you out such a special gift.

      Thanks for following me and thanks for all of your compliments!!

      The polymer heart is very easy to make.
      You need:
      - red and white polymer clay
      - two cabochons (I used a pink rose and a black swallow, but of course you can use anything you like)
      - an eyepin
      - a ball chain
      Other things I used: a permanent marker and a cookie template.

      With a cookie template cut a heart out of the red clay. Cut the banner out of the white clay with a little knife. Drape the banner around the heart. Put in an eyepin on the upper side. Bake the heart in the oven (follow the instructions on the packaging of the clay).
      Write the word LOVE (or whatever word you like) on the banner. Glue the cabochons to the heart. Hang the pendant from the ball chain. Finished!

Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Change c

Crocheted Scrunchies

My daughter asked me to crochet some scrunchies for her. Not that much work, I thought, so one evening, after she went to bed, I started crocheting. Turned out next morning that the scrunchies that I made weren't exactly the ones she had in mind. She meant scrunchies like the fabric ones: a tunnel with a piece of elastic in it. Luckily she liked mine much better, so I got away well. Not sure if they will be in use as hair bands or bracelets, though. Teenagers think in mysterious ways, aren't they?
