Paper Cut X-mas Decorations

Last week I went to one of my favorite furniture and decoration store, Loods 5, and beside some very nice items for my living room and kitchen I found a nice book about paper cut decorations for all sorts of parties, fiestas and feestjes. Among others there is of course the X-mas theme. I made a start today with something to cheer up the window and with a label for a present, that I used to decorate one of my wooden candle holders.




After cutting the paper I painted it in my favorite color of the moment: red copper.

  In the last months I saw him on social media regularly: the Plague Doctor, often accompanied by the words 'Wash Your Hands'. I doubt that plague doctors ever said that, because in their time running water wasn't available for everyone. Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Change c

Crocheted Scrunchies

My daughter asked me to crochet some scrunchies for her. Not that much work, I thought, so one evening, after she went to bed, I started crocheting. Turned out next morning that the scrunchies that I made weren't exactly the ones she had in mind. She meant scrunchies like the fabric ones: a tunnel with a piece of elastic in it. Luckily she liked mine much better, so I got away well. Not sure if they will be in use as hair bands or bracelets, though. Teenagers think in mysterious ways, aren't they?
