Crocheted Basket

Don't you think the best thing in Winter is to sit under a blanket in the evening, watching movies with your love and/or your kids? Curtains closed, candles lighted, fire burning. I love it. 

 My blankets are lying around most of the time, on or beside the couch. I thought a basket would be convenient. Because I was running out of white cotton yarn I wanted to order some and saw the bulky yarn used for crochet baskets was on sale, so I ordered some of that, too. Not really a stash buster (as told before my New Year's resolution is to get rid of at least half of the mountain of yarn that I have stored everywhere around the house), but I have to be honest: buying new yarn makes me so happy, haha!

What's so great about bulky yarn: projects are finished nice and fast! So hereby I present: The Blanket Basket!

Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Change c

Crocheted Scrunchies

My daughter asked me to crochet some scrunchies for her. Not that much work, I thought, so one evening, after she went to bed, I started crocheting. Turned out next morning that the scrunchies that I made weren't exactly the ones she had in mind. She meant scrunchies like the fabric ones: a tunnel with a piece of elastic in it. Luckily she liked mine much better, so I got away well. Not sure if they will be in use as hair bands or bracelets, though. Teenagers think in mysterious ways, aren't they?
