Birthday Bunting

This weekend my eye fell on this crochet bunting. It is inspired on a baby blanket seen in the BBC series 'Call the Midwife'. The midwives do a lot of crochet in the series, but that's not why it's one of my favorite shows. I just love the clothes they wear! My favorite midwife is Trixie. Yours?

Anyway, this bunting came just in time for my daughter's birthday! In flamingo colors, as you've might expect.

    I love Call The Midwife, too. I've always thought I related most to Sister Evangeline, played by Pam Ferris. Oh my goodness...I just came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EudE6Ln8C9w Pam Ferris and I have basically the same hairstyle! lol I love this woman! Not because of her hairstyle ;^), but because she appears to be an all around beautiful, caring woman.

    I adore this!!! I started the blanket eons ago and it sits half finished in my cupboard. I'm so glad you shared! I will be following suit first chance I get.

      Hahaha, I have a couple of unfinished blankets in cupboards, too! I'm really not good at finishing large projects. I just don't have enough patience for it.

    Such a vibrant, happy colour palette! I adore Call the Midwife, too. I watch it on Netflix and have rationed them out since day one. I'll treat myself to an episode if I've had an especially rough week and/or are feeling extra unwell. It's one of my favourite period dramas ever!

Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Change c

Crocheted Scrunchies

My daughter asked me to crochet some scrunchies for her. Not that much work, I thought, so one evening, after she went to bed, I started crocheting. Turned out next morning that the scrunchies that I made weren't exactly the ones she had in mind. She meant scrunchies like the fabric ones: a tunnel with a piece of elastic in it. Luckily she liked mine much better, so I got away well. Not sure if they will be in use as hair bands or bracelets, though. Teenagers think in mysterious ways, aren't they?
