Popcorn Cupcakes
My dear daughter started school this week and because it was still vacation when she had her birthday, she wanted to treat her class mates on something sweet this week. After some years of making treats, finding something original becomes more difficult every time. Fortunately I found this Popcorn Cupcakes on Pinterest and because my daughter loves popcorn, it didn't take much to make her enthusiastic. But, like (almost) every year, it looked so simple, but took me a lot of hours to give it the look I had in mind.
Bless me, I bought ready to use cupcakes (there were years that I even baked the cupcakes myself, for each and every kid in a class of 36). But, yes, even though I like to make something special, I have learned, the past years.
For the wrappers around the cakes I used this template.
For the popcorn I used marshmallows, that I cut in pieces to make it look like popcorn. I made them look a bit buttery with water with a few drops of yellow food coloring in it.
So creative! I though it was real popcorn on the cupcakes! You did a great job and I'm sure everyone will remember how fun & tasty they were. I remember the days of doing this.. yes, bless your heart. it's a ton of work. Your daughter will always remember these and that's what makes it worth every bit of time spent making them so pretty! ReplyDeleteI thought it was real popcorn, too! I bet the kids were surprised! This is a great idea; no frosting getting smashed in the box when transporting. :)

What a cute idea!! Wouldn't those be perfect for a Mother/Daughter book club "Book to Movie" night?
