Sugar Skull

Last week I started a somewhat larger project (at least large for me, as it will take a couple of weeks to finish it). I found the book Twisted Stitches by Phil Davison via my favorite blog of this moment Feeling Stitchy and am embroidering the Sugar Skull that’s on the cover. I LOVE sugar skulls! Let's hope it's finished just in time for Dia de los Muertos, november 1st and 2nd.

This week I got an award! Katrin  of Me dLux gave me the award. Great honor to know that someone likes my blog so much she wants to give me an award for it!! But… I think anyone who takes the time to write a blog and wants to share ideas with others does deserve this award! So I guess I have to say ‘Thanks, but no thanks’ to the award. Not that I don’t appreciate it, because I certainly do, Katrin!! I hope you understand…

      It's just cross stitches, but the counting makes it difficult. I made a lot of mistakes myself, but I think it's worth the effort. I just love this sugar skull pattern! Nice weekend! Liz

    Your sugar skull is going to be awesome! Have you ever seen Subservise Cross Stitch? She has some fun designs. And Sublime Stitching is another one of my favorites.

    I have just stitched the sugar skull onto a bag for my sister! I chose the other version though, but can't wait to make this one too. I was fortunate enough to stitch up the zombie bride for the book photo too and I really love the book.

Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Chang...

~ I love Pinterest and would like to make one thing every week that I find on Pinterest. Since I have lots of pins (that, until now, I've just pinned and only that), I hope this will be a way to reduce the amount of pins on my boards . It can be anything, from cooking to crochet and from sewing to paper crafts. Just small projects that don't take weeks to make ~  Last week I told you about the Haasje look-a-like mug cozy I planned to make for Easter. Haasje, our Flemish Giant is my youngest daughter's bunny, so of course she wanted the mug cozy.
