Cozy Herringbone Pumpkin Pillow

Image
A while ago, a the beginning of Fall, I saw some really, really great pillows in the form of a pumpkin, on the internet. The shop that sold them didn't deliver to the country I live in, though, so I went searching for other shops selling similar pillows. In the end I didn't find  pumpkin pillows exactly to my liking, but what I did find was a beautiful crochet pattern for pumpkin pillows on Etsy. So that's what I bought.  I crocheted three balls of yarn together for a thick thread.  Pattern: Cozy Herrington Pumpkin Pillow by My Dear Knot Yarn: Royal by Zeeman ~*~ My Waist Coat Stitch Plant Pot is featured by Creative Jewish Mom  and Ginx Craft !

Stash Buster 17  Last week I wrote a post about the lamp shades I made for the dining room. I had some yarn left and used it to make this plant pot by covering a vegetable jar with the waist coat stitch.   Pattern: waist coat stitch Yarn: Barbante ~*~ My raspberry colored pumpkin was featured by Creative Jewish Mom and Pointsettia Drive !

Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Empanadas

Image
Now that it's Fall again and I'm inside the house more often, I like to try out new recipes and experimenting with cooking and baking again. This week I made empanadas filled with sweet potatoes, pumpkin, pecans and cajun seasoning. It was a try out, but is definitely a keeper!  You will not use all of the mashed pumpkin and potato mix. With what is left you can make a delicious soup by adding vegetable broth.     What you need 10 slices of pastry dough 1 sweet potatoe 1 pumpkin 1 garlic clove 1 shallot 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning mix handful of pecans, chopped   What you do Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius Cut potato, pumpkin, garlic and shallot into pieces and spread over a baking plate Sprinkle olive oil over it Roast for half an hour (don't turn off the oven after roasting) Mash the pumpkin and potatoe Add seasoning mix Put a tablespoon of the mix on the pastry dough, add some pecans and fold over Press the edges with a fork to close the empa

Crocheted Lamp Shades

It's been two years ago already since we bought our fixer upper. We like to do everything on our own, my husband doing the renovations and me doing all painting jobs, decorations and such. Things go slow, but steady. My husband is building a large barn like shed at the moment, so he has more work room and, even better, sawing and milling doesn't have to be done in our house anymore. No more sawdust everywhere, even weeks after sawing. Can't wait!  The latest things I myself was busy with were lamp shades. I made these two for our dining room. You can purchase all supplies as a complete package and can choose from different colors and different labels to completely finish the lamps . I chose this cat, because she looks totally like our own cat Dolly.     Pattern and Yarn:   Chandelier Marrakech C Complete package with all supplies by Haak maar aan bij Sas   ~*~  My Fuzzy Frog was featured by Oombawka Design !

Travels: Texel, The Netherlands

Image
Last week I went to the small island of Texel, The Netherlands, with my oldest daughter. Just some one on one attention. I think every kid needs it. I know I did, when I was a child.  We went to the little town of Den Burg. My daughter wanted to shop for crystals, which is totally hot at the moment, as I have to believe my daughter (14yo). In our last vacation, this summer, we also visited all crystal shops in the neighborhoods of our vacation homes, so I already new of this new trend. Surprisingly this little town has two crystal shops, so my daughter had a great day. I myself was on the hunt for nice things for our living room, but I couldn't find anything that I didn't have already. Just bought candles and another vegetarian cookbook. We also visited Ecomare, a sanctuary for seals. Texel is an island in the Wadden Sea, which houses a lot of seals. When weakened or injured seals are taken to Ecomare to let them get their strength and free them afterwards.  Some of the seals

Fuzzy Frog

One of my oldest daughter's best friends has her Birthday tomorrow and besides some little presents my daughter also wanted to give her a handmade, crocheted frog, that she had seen on TikTok. Not handmade by herself, but handmade by me, of course. Fortunately I had some chenille yarn leftovers, in the right colors and just enough to make this frog. Frogs are totally hot, as you could read in this earlier post . For teens at least.   Pattern: Fuzzy Frog by DreamCreations Yarn: Extra Soft by Zeeman   ~*~ My Crate Full of Pumpkins was featured by Creative Jewish Mom , The House on Silverad , Karin's Kottage , My Slices of Life , View From The Beach Chair and Annemarie's Haakblog !
