Chequered Potholders - Tutorial

Made new potholders!
Want to make them, too?
Here's the recipe!
* Chain 32 in color A

* Chain 3 (this is your first trc), trc in every next chain. Don't cut of yarn at the end of the row.


* Change to color B. Secure yarn to first stitch of the second row and chain 1. Sc in next 3 stitches. Now put your crochet needle in the next st of the first row. Pull up loop of yarn.



Sc in next four stitches and pull up loop. Repeat until end of the row. Cut of the yarn.

*  Chain 3 of color A (this is your first trc), trc in next three stitches, *skip one stitch (this stitch should be above the pulled up stitch), trc in next four stitches*, repeat * * until end of row.

* Change to color B. Sc in next four stitches. Pull up a loop in the 'eye' of the loop you made two rows ago. Repeat until end of row.


* Repeat pattern until you have fifteen rows of both colors.

    I adore your potholders. For whatever reason, I can't seem to maintain my coordination while crocheting... I just make one long chain. I wish I could make the potholders with your instructions, but I'll just admire yours! They are oh so lovely!!

    There is something about a homemade pot holder that out performs a store bought. My old one is the only one I use and I would be devastated if I lost it! I should give this a try. Thanks for sharing.

    I've got to pull out my needles and do a few of these, I life the color combo! I also love checks, especially in a kitchen! I also don't think I ever did t his stitch before either. Tickled you shared your creativenens with Sunday's Best Party.

Christmas Scrunchies (free pattern)

 Of all the things I made this year, Crocheted Scrunchie s were the biggest hit. My daughter wears them all the time, in her hair and/or on her arm, so I thought Christmas Scrunchies would be nice, too.  I'm happy to say my duaghter thinks this Christmas variety 'is just as great as the regular, no mom, even better'!  My daughter is thirteen now, so I'm wondering if it will last very much longer, that enthusiasm over mom made things, but I hope it does, because I really enjoy making things for my daughters.   How I made them: Round 1: 40 dc around a regular hair elastic, close with a slip stitch in the first sc (40) Change color Round 2: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch, 3 dc in every sc of the previous round, close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (120) Change color Round 3: chain 2 (counts as the first dc), 1 dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in every dc of the previous round,close with a slip stitch in the chain stitch (240) Chang...

~ I love Pinterest and would like to make one thing every week that I find on Pinterest. Since I have lots of pins (that, until now, I've just pinned and only that), I hope this will be a way to reduce the amount of pins on my boards . It can be anything, from cooking to crochet and from sewing to paper crafts. Just small projects that don't take weeks to make ~  Last week I told you about the Haasje look-a-like mug cozy I planned to make for Easter. Haasje, our Flemish Giant is my youngest daughter's bunny, so of course she wanted the mug cozy.
