Butterflies all over!

Last week we went to the zoo. My favorite animals there (and anywhere) are wolves. Well, except for cats of cours. The domestic ones, I mean.

But second best in our zoo is the butterfly garden. Not only because I think butterflies are such fairytale creatures, but also because the smell of the moist wood in the butterfly garden always reminds me of a great trip to Costa Rica we made a couple of years ago.

I went to the butterfly garden a lot, because we go to the zoo at least once a month, but this time they inspired me to paint an old chest of drawers I have for years.

Some of the butterflies I painted:

  1. Your butterfly paintings really caught my eye. Perhaps because I have been knitting monarch butterflies recently.

  5. This post makes me yearn to a zoo again. Alas, there isn't one around these parts for hundreds of miles (Vancouver's would be the closest to us and that's about five hours away). We don't even have a petting zoo around these parts anymore, as the one that was in neighbouring community shut down last fall (much to my animal loving chagrin!).

Lovely photos - both the wolves and the butterflies are gorgeous in different ways.

    1. Too bad there isn't a zoo around you. It's always so much fun to visit the zoo, especially in spring. Thanks for visiting me and leaving a sweet comment! Liz

  13. Hi Liz,
My cousin loves butterflies. When she was serving in Iraq and was feeling really scared and homesick she was blessed with the presences of a butterfly. Thank you for linking up at Fluster's Creative Muster. Hope to see you next week!
